Amitabh, Modi and Common Man

In Uncategorized on March 30, 2010 at 1:08 pm

Inflation is out of headlines, Job loss is no more a issues, farmer suicides are just another statistical data, the news of the days is only about Amitabh Bachchan and comments on him by second class Congress leaders.

With Amitabh Bachchan in focus and with both major political parties Congress and BJPinvolved involved in a war of words on Amitabh and Modi issue..the aam aadmi and his issues are again cornered.

More than 25 farmers have committed suicides in Vidarbha last week but no one is talking about that. Food Inflation is increasing and Government is busy giving US companies a “fair” deal in form of Nuclear Liability Bill. Media is playing in the hands of politicians who are busy diverting the attention from the real issues and are shying away from real actions.

Congress is working on poll strategy for 2014 and trying to marginalize BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi, BJP is loosing focus and playing in the hands of Congress and instead of raising issues like inflation, nuclear liability bill etc., their leaders are also busy responding to the attacks on bachchan by junior rank leaders of Congress Party.

Common Man who is suffering and losing his battle for survival with each passing day is clue less, with on one raising real issues and no one talking about inflation, loss of jobs etc. ; it is the aam aadmi who is at the receiving end.

Delhi Budget- in the name of the Games!!

In Uncategorized on March 23, 2010 at 4:14 pm

Delhi Govt. has presented its Budget in the assembly. As expected Common wealth Games remained the priority and already burdened people are expected to pay the price of the same.

Budget is aimed to raise money required for successful organization of the games and cost of making Delhi a “World Class” city for bunch of foreigners who will be visiting the city during the nine day event in October this year.

If we look at the budget, we find that it answers how Govt. is going to get money for this International Event “Delhi” is so proud to organize. What it doesn’t answer is the question how common  poor people of this rich city are going to survive and make both ends meet. It also doesn’t provide solutions to daily struggles of common Delhites in ensuring affordable quality education for their children, easy access to primary health care, safe roads, drinking water, unauthorized status of residential colonies where 60% of Delhi is living, etc.

Through laymen analysis of average income of Delhite ( and remember around 70% people earn less than average per capita income) as compared to basic requirement of life including health, education, travel to work place etc. one can find out that common man of this city is already finding it hard to survive in Delhi.  With present budget it is only going to be more difficult and painful.

Government has never asked for any mandate before bidding for the games and now it is making people pay for something which government has decided on its own undemocratically.

With no election in sight and opposition only registering a token protest…one thing is sure that poor Delhiwalahs have a difficult time ahead. All in the name of Games…

The way present Central and State Governments are working, one can easily see that common man is not in the priority.

Its time to look back to Gandhi’s Talisman and talk about the difference…

Gandhi Ji’s Talisman

“I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man [woman] whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him [her]. Will he [she] gain anything by it? Will it restore him [her] to a control over his [her] own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to swaraj [freedom] for the hungry and spiritually starving millions?

Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away.”

Trickle Down Economist’s Talisman

“I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the richest and the strongest man [woman] whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him [her]. Will he [she] gain anything by it? Will it help him [her] to a control over lives and destiny of other poor inferior subjects of yours? In other words, will it lead to migration or abolishment of hard working poor middle and lower class millions?
Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away.”

Aam Aadmi

This blog is an attempt to talk about Aam Aadmi, his pains and sufferings, his happy moments and aspirations and moreover the way he observes the things…

जब चाहो तभी उतार सजा लो दोनों में;
अथवा कोई दुधमुंही जिसे बहलाने के
जंतर-मंतर सीमित हैं चार खिलौनों में।
